Did You Know? (Profane art )

Profane art distinguishes itself from sacred art precisely because it is not religious in nature. In Quebec, between the 17th and the 20th centuries, figureheads, coats-of-arms, furniture, and shop signs, not to mention sculptures representing great names of history, were considered profane works, in opposition to religious statuary or works decorating churches and chapels.
