Native of Romania, Daniel Spoerri touched the arts for the first time as the dancer étoile of the Stadttheater in Bern. He next worked in a multitude of professions, before making his first "trap-paintings" in 1959. Unique in their kind, these canvases are in fact collages of sundry objects, very often dishes and leftovers, on a vertical plane. He then became interested in assemblage and distinguished himself by his capacity to shock, notably with his canvases made up of animal corpses.Add to my favorites
