Man Ray (1890-1976)

Emmanuel Rudnitsky, better known as Man Ray, painter, photographer, and American filmmaker, settled down in Paris in 1921 after unsuccessfully trying establish the Dada movement in New York with his friend Marcel Duchamp.

He wasn't long in joining the Surrealists and photographed the greatest artists of his day. He invented Rayographie and created as well paintings, objects, and assemblages. His innovative photography was to capture, despite everything, more attention of the Europeans than his other talents.
