Painting During the Renaissance

The Renaissance is a slice of history particularly rich in cultural innovations and discoveries. If, however, it's rather difficult to place it in time, we often describe it as pivotal period between the medieval era and modern times.

It is characterized by the broad diffusion of knowledge among well-read people, in particular in the field of arts. Over the course of this period, painting underwent many developments, including the massive use of the oil paint, the appearance of techniques to reproduce perspective, and the invention of the canvas such as we know it today.
