Porcelain

Porcelain, also commonly referred to as "china", is a ceramic product which owes its name to its strong resemblance to the seashell of the same name. It is characterized by its white color and transparency, and is generally formed from a mixture that includes a large proportion of clayey mineral known as "kaolin".

Porcelain can be made out of "hard paste" or "soft paste" according to the elements which compose it and the manner of baking. It can be modeled, deformed, glazed, or painted to create many different objects (dishes, vases, dolls, etc.). Among the most renowned, we find Limoges porcelain, whose fineness is recognized all over the world.
