Essential to everything that concerns percussion instruments, rhythm is that which temporarily defines music, and is generally repeated at a regular interval. It forms, in a sense, the structure of a musical composition and marks the beat.
Rhythm can be also regular as the tick-tock of a clock or diversified over the course of the evolution of the melody. It can equally represent the duration and intensity of a series of notes in a score.
