White Oak (Quercus alba)

The white oak is part of the Fagaceae or beech family and grows in southern Quebec and Ontario. Like most oaks, it can attain some 30 meters in height. Its hard, heavy wood, pale brown in color, is employed in not only sculpture, but also in cabinetmaking and joinery.
